Another throwback to Iceland! I can't believe I'd forgotten how amazing the landscape was... I honestly felt as though I had stepped onto another planet. It seemed as if for half the time we were walking on beaches and the other half we were walking at the foot of mountains. Although we were mesmerized every time we stepped outside, this particular little patch was especially enchanting. It sums up Iceland pretty well, in my opinion: raw natural beauty melded perfectly with edgy, modern and man-made buildings. This funny little church seemed right at home with cobblestone hedges!

So, too, is the language: the phrase "I come from the mountains," while sounding eerily poetic and lovely to English ears, actually translates to something like, "I have no idea what you're talking about." Mountains just represent anything you want them to, I guess!
